The availability of these tests not only completes the technical support of the R & D activities but more importantly to fully realise the market potential by complying to international cosmetic legislation (like the European Directive), where safety and efficacy data must be available for any claim substantiation before the products can be marketed. Efficacy test can be very costly. Moving into this section of product evaluation is another testament of our commitment to the soap business.

Amongst the many safety and efficacy tests, we have selected the following:

i) Product Safety Test - Skin Irritation that is evaluated by the In-vitro Dermal Irritation Assay. The HIE values obtained from this test can be correlated with that from the in-vivo Draize test.

ii) Efficacy test is conducted by repeated washing of the skin with the test product and measuring skin properties such as TEWL, hydration, pH and colour after use.
